An American Upset
May 21, 2009 General

No, not the frail economy or the flip flops of Obama, but rather the surprise victory of Kris Allen over Adam Lambert on American Idol. Yes, thanks to social media, we’re deliberating on who won AI instead of pressing world issues. Isn’t that great? <– note my sarcasm.
Anyway I have yet to watch the finals so I have absolutely no idea how they performed and despite recognising the talentsand charisma that Adam possess, I was quite certain that Kris’ best could only see him get runners up spot. If AI was a course in one of the local polytechnics, ADAM would have excelled with a Diploma with merit, thanks to his consistent and memorable performances, week after week. I’ve yet to see an AI contestant this good. I thought even David Cook’s charisma lost out to Adam’s!
Still, kudos to Kris for being younger, able to carry the guitar, sit behind a piano, being baby-boyish looking and choosing the right sexuality path which probably swooned all of America’s giggling teens’ handphone bills his way. In credit, Kris never appeared intolerable but played it safe all throughout the competition. He’s quite talented and sings well, but he comes off as a karaoke champion at times, compared to Adam’s stage dominating enigmatic solos.
Oh well, upsets do happen time and again. Not that I’ll be weeping 24/7 or wail over Adam’s lost, but I’m just a little irked that a better artist (imho) lost out.
If its any consolation for Adam, history has gone to show that the runner’s up for AI always sells way more records than the winners.
So congratulations to Kris. (As if he’s even reading this, in which case the congrats goes to Kris’ fans, but as if they’re reading this… so.. bah, forget it..)

Americon Idol: Season 9
Apr 15, 2009 Me, Myself & I
I can’t believe that I’m following American Idol like a seasoned groupie like my siscus(that’s sisters cousins for ya!) used to back during the Clay Aiken days.
Anyway, my point being that unlike Singapore Idol os seasons past, there isn’t any kids who can’t sing or punks who are merely jumping around on stage. American Idol contestant Season 9 has got the chops required to be in the show.
Sadly, not all of them perform at optimal range. Here’s my take after watching tonight’s episode:
Alison a little bland. Din’t really pull off with the high notes.
Anoop devoid of emotions. Its as if he was having his final performance of the campaign.
Adam. He made it fun. The orchestra rocked! He was expressive. He’s good. Bloody hell.
Matt Giraud almost desecrated Bryan Adam’s number with some untimely voice riffs. He has a gd voice, but instead of impressing the crowd, should’ve stick to working at the song instead.
Danny Goker truly felt his song and he sang through his eyes and pitch. Very nice. Good rapport with the audience.
Kris Allen looked good, but came off nervous looking and at times off-key. He can be gd if he can appear relaxed. Talented but not this week.
Lil Rounds has got one of the best vocals, and on her day she’s rightfully a singer on her own stage. Disappointingly she looks a little uncomfortable right now, and she’s singing with a lack of confidence.
So there you have it, my worthless thoughts/opinion of their performance. Ahhh, nothing beats being critical with nonchalant carte blance. I’m loving it.

ADAM-LAMBERT.ORG
Apr 12, 2009 Me, Myself & I
Now I’m compelled to add this link because:
1) I think Adam Lambert is a very talented artist.
2) I think Adam Lambert will make a very good album.
3) Because the webmaster followed me on twitter (maybe its those random followings, but here’s my reciprocation.)
4) Backlinking Adam Lambert’s official website (yeah, I think its official….. ) will probably give it a high Google ranking.
5) I think Adam Lambert is a very talented artist.
PS: I heard he’s openly gay? Good. At least he’s not hiding and pretending. He is himself and it sure takes a lot to be one own’s self. Anyway, apart from Adam, I think only Anoop and Danny Goker has got what it takes to reach the top 2 of this season’s American Idol. And then, Adam’s gonna wing it his way. ; )
