Yep. That’s my profile at Ping.sg — a website that pings!
Bah, doubt that 90% of people know what pinging is all about, so if you’re the 1 out of 10 who knows, then don’t read the following:-
ping is a computer network tool used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network; it is also used to self test the network interface card of the computer, or as a latency test. It works by sendingICMP “echo request” packets to the target host and listening for ICMP “echo response” replies. Ping measures the round-trip time and records any packet loss, and prints when finished a statistical summary of the echo response packets received, the minimum, mean, max and in some versions the standard deviation of the round trip time.
Aiyah, I think anyone from the 9 out of 10 condition above, who read this description probably won’t understand even the first sentence, so in laymen terms here goes (and imagine that a computer is like a human in this case):
Ping is when human-A pokes human-B to inform them that there has been an update.
Or something like that — comprendre amigos? Basically it’s computers, servers, routers and bla bla bla ‘talking to each other’ informing each other about an orgy, a foam party or really anything and everything else and so on.
So.. ping ping ping ping, ping ping, ping ping ping — ping ping ping!
